UN Egypt

Egypt joined the UN upon its creation in 1945 and has a long tradition of engagement and cooperation with the UN, its main bodies, the Specialized Agencies, Funds and Programmes. 

More than twenty-four UN System entities, some with a regional mandate covering several countries, are based in Egypt providing support to the country's economic and social development and Egypt's efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). 

 The UN Country Team (UNCT) members coordinate the delievery of their programmes with the Egyptian counterparts and each other under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator.
